I'm Everin
California artist, lifelong gymnast and coach, and someone who has always been compelled to make things.
β
I’ve spent more than four decades in gymnastics, first as an athlete and now as a coach. It taught me to appreciate discipline, repetition, precision, and the strange satisfaction of pursuing something you may never completely master. It also gave me a slightly unreasonable relationship with the number ten.
βArt has followed much the same trajectory. I’m interested in craftsmanship, but not perfection. I want the evidence of the hand, the character of the wood, and the tension between something delicately rendered and something deliberately constructed.
β
I work primarily in graphite and pigment on wood, occasionally incorporating gold. My current work is figurative and increasingly concerned with women, inheritance, strength and the things we choose to preserve.
β
Everin Ten is the home I’ve built for that work.
I make original pieces slowly and in small numbers. Each belongs to a developing body of work rather than an endless inventory, and I intend to keep it that way.
